The RELIFE Foundation has developed an integrated social impact model that redefines the relationship between international students and the communities they live in. Moving beyond housing as a purely physical space, the foundation focuses on reducing isolation and strengthening social cohesion through shared experiences and participatory initiatives. This approach encourages residents to move from passive tenants to active contributors, fostering a stronger sense of belonging. At its core is the belief that living, learning, and contributing should coexist, creating a structured ecosystem where students are more closely integrated into the city’s social fabric.

In the short term, the initiative delivers a range of social projects that connect residents with local partners and meaningful volunteer opportunities. Through the RELIFE app, students can discover projects, register, and stay connected with coordinators. To date, this has resulted in 36 social projects, over 30 local partnerships, and engagement from more than 70 international students. With over 1,000 hours of volunteering and training delivered, the initiative provides tangible support to local organisations while offering students opportunities for personal development and cross-cultural exchange.

Looking ahead, the long-term objective is to establish this model as a broader standard within student housing, embedding social responsibility into the resident experience. The foundation plans to expand through targeted programmes, such as its Artist-in-Residence initiative, while continuing to promote inclusive and respectful environments. Ultimately, the goal is to create a scalable framework that demonstrates how structured community engagement can enhance both the student experience and local wellbeing.
